The Question of Origen
At Origen Architecture, we approach every project as a living story—one that begins with a question: Where does this project truly start?
For us, the origin is more than a point in time; it is the essence of creation. It is the intersection between the needs of the project, the context where it belongs, and the invisible set of rules—environmental, cultural, and architectural—that naturally shape its form.
We believe that design is not just about creating spaces, but about understanding the origin of each idea, how it is born, and how it should grow. Every project emerges from a dialogue between site, function, and the life it is meant to host. This is why our architecture is guided not by trends, but by the continuity of life: each project is conceived to evolve, adapt, and never truly stop living beyond the moment of construction.
For us, Origen is both a question and an answer—a commitment to create architecture that respects the forces that shape it, honors its context, and continues to inspire long after its first stone is placed.
Behind Origen
Josh Chaves is an architect graduated with honors from the Veritas University in 2017. Where some of his collegue works were selected to compete at the National Biennals of Costa Rica.
From the moment he graduated his vision was focused on the design of residential homes. He had the opportunite to worked with design firms as Jaime Roullion and Studio Saxe. Part of those experiences evolved by giving consultancy for builders, architects and interior designers.
From 2022 he moved to Nosara and runs his own personal works over diferent parts of Costa Rica. His vision of architecture is related to understand where and how the capacity of design can bring us to the best result. In 2023 he founds Origen Architecture, as a space for sharing his works.
“Architecture means a constance response to our sorroundings, how good we response to them, makes something of what we can start considere beautiful" - Josh.
